A.6Map reporting instruments and interoperability
Working Draft version 1.1
Purpose and scope
This unit covers the capability to compare reporting instruments at an appropriate level of granularity, classify the nature and strength of correspondence and determine how information, data and process components may be reused without obscuring differences. It includes objectives, users, scopes, materiality perspectives, definitions, boundaries, metrics, disclosures, location and timing requirements.
Applied competency statement
Can compare the objectives, scopes, concepts, definitions, materiality bases, boundaries, metrics and disclosure requirements of reporting instruments; classify the nature and strength of correspondence; and design a traceable crosswalk or data-reuse approach without asserting unsupported equivalence.
Boundary and escalation
A crosswalk does not establish legal equivalence, compliance, official endorsement or automatic satisfaction of another reporting instrument. Mapping must respect copyright and licensing restrictions and preserve instrument-specific requirements, judgement and approval.
Key quality risks
Forcing one-to-one equivalence; mapping at inconsistent levels of granularity; comparing labels rather than criteria; ignoring differences in users, materiality, boundaries, timing or evidence; omitting unmatched requirements; misrepresenting official interoperability; and reproducing protected source material beyond permitted use.
