F.4Prepare controlled working papers and evidence packs

Working Draft version 1.1

Purpose and scope

This unit covers the capability to prepare, organise, cross-reference, review and retain sustainability reporting working papers and evidence packs. It includes purpose, criteria, preparer and reviewer, source, procedure, calculation, judgement, conclusion, issue status, version and links to requirements, controls, disclosures and published information so that another competent reviewer can understand and reperform the work.

Applied competency statement
Can prepare and maintain complete, cross-referenced and reviewer-ready working papers and evidence packs that show the purpose, source, work performed, judgement, conclusion, review and linkage to reported information.
Boundary and escalation
This unit prepares reporting working papers and assurance-readiness evidence packs and does not create assurance-provider working papers or determine assurance evidence. E.9 owns data lineage and record integrity; H.4 addresses confidentiality and privilege; formal assurance documentation remains the responsibility of the independent assurance practitioner.
Key quality risks
Evidence dumped into folders without an index or conclusion; working papers prepared only after queries arise; unclear purpose, criteria or period; missing preparer and reviewer; calculations without source linkage; screenshots with no provenance; links that break; unresolved review notes hidden; different evidence for the same metric across teams; excessive irrelevant material; files containing personal or privileged data without controls; and working papers that cannot be understood without the preparer's oral explanation.
