H.8Facilitate collaboration, negotiation and responsible resolution

Working Draft version 1.1

Purpose and scope

This unit covers the capability to facilitate cross-functional and multi-party sustainability reporting work where roles, evidence, definitions, priorities, resources or preferred outcomes differ. It includes meeting and workshop design, interests and positions, decision rights, power dynamics, option development, negotiation, dissent, deadlock, documented agreement and escalation while preserving technical criteria, accountability and professional boundaries.

Applied competency statement
Can facilitate collaboration, negotiation and resolution of sustainability reporting disagreements and dependencies while preserving evidence, technical integrity, decision rights, dissent and accountable escalation.
Boundary and escalation
This unit owns the professional method and behaviour used to facilitate, negotiate and resolve reporting disagreement. D.6 owns operating coordination and dependency tracking, C.2 owns formal authority and H.7 owns technical communication. It does not replace formal mediation, collective bargaining, grievance investigation or legal dispute resolution.
Key quality risks
Meeting activity mistaken for resolution; dominant functions or senior participants silencing evidence; compromise used to weaken a reporting requirement or methodology; consensus treated as authority; technical disagreements personalised; positions debated without identifying underlying interests or criteria; affected contributors excluded; agreements not recorded; owners lack authority or capacity; dissent hidden; and deadlock allowed to delay reporting without formal escalation.
