D.3Plan the reporting cycle, dependencies and resources
Working Draft version 1.1
Purpose and scope
This unit covers the capability to convert the reporting strategy and disclosure architecture into a realistic integrated plan with milestones, deliverables, dependencies, review and approval windows, resources, capacity, contingency and escalation. It coordinates data, narrative, specialist, legal, governance, assurance, translation, design, publication and external-submission activities across the reporting cycle.
Applied competency statement
Can develop and maintain a realistic reporting-cycle plan that defines deliverables, milestones, critical dependencies, resources, review windows, contingency and escalation across internal and external workstreams.
Boundary and escalation
This unit applies project and capacity planning to sustainability reporting and does not replace formal programme-management, procurement, employment, financial-budgeting or legal expertise. Functional owners remain accountable for their deliverables and must validate estimates, constraints and resource commitments.
Key quality risks
Planning backwards from a publication date without testing data and approval lead times; missing assurance, legal, governance, translation, design or filing dependencies; overloading key contributors; no contingency for late data or methodological change; assuming external advisers can absorb delays; unclear milestone acceptance criteria; false green status; and escalation only after the critical path has already failed.

Use defined early-warning and escalation thresholds and communicate recovery options, trade-offs and residual risk to management.
Skill Type: Escalation and communication · Observable Output or Result: Schedule risk and recovery record
D.3-B01
Does not report green status, fixed dates or available capacity without support from deliverable evidence and accountable owners.
Behaviour Type: Realism and transparency · Non-compensable Requirement: No
D.3-B02
Raises emerging critical-path and resource risks early rather than relying on heroic effort or silent compression of review.
Behaviour Type: Early escalation · Non-compensable Requirement: No
D.3-B03
Does not remove evidence, legal, assurance or governance review time merely to preserve a publication date without authorised risk acceptance.
Behaviour Type: Respect for quality gates · Non-compensable Requirement: No
